Back in March one of my pieces "Balance Act" was selected as a Finalist in the Raymar Art Painting Competition. I was thrilled with what the judge had to say:
Judge's Comments: The strong abstract design of this beautiful little painting first drew my attention and then the charm and playfulness of the concept won me over. I love how the diagonal lines of the railway station and the tracks lead to the center of interest, the young boy fearlessly balancing on the train tracks. His outstretched arms form a "T" shape which is punctuated by the dark foliage behind and above his blond head. The bright sunshiny day shines through in the hazy, soft paint handling. He is twisting his leg to remain balanced, adding a further note of awkward childishness which also sets him off against the geometric severity of the surrounding man-made forms. A wonderful and evocative painting. - Linda Tracey Brandon
