I found some photos documenting the stages of my painting Pick Up Sticks. This will give you a good idea of what kind of stages a painting goes through to get to completion.
In June I blogged about an upcoming show I was preparing for. This fun and playful idea of artist hoarding allowed me not only to explore a new medium (mixed media collage) but use some of those precious things I had been saving. Check out a sneak peek of the show and join Brooke Francesi, Victoria Montgomery, and myself this Saturaday for a wonderful reception. Gallery 21Ten, 2110 K St. Sacramento CA, 4:30-5:00 - Art Walk 6-9.
Yesterday I looked through some older drawings I've done. They were hiding in their portfolio out of sight. Many of these were done burning the late night oil while studying at Academy of Art University. I still remember my roommate Katy and I staying up late to work on our drawing projects. Before we each had studio space at AAU we worked from home in our shared bedroom/ art studio. This was one of the joys of moving to the Bay Area with astronomical housing costs. We didn't mind though- We were in art school, loving every minute. Our floor was covered with gauche paint samples, paint brushes, charcoal pencils, drawings, clothes, and Arnie (adorable mascot) running around approving it all.
